SC is very sweet so I agree that some of the peatier ones would not be a god choice. A bourbon like Makers Mark, the honey version of JD or just normal JD might be a good place to start but then just gradually move toward the single malts. Glenmorangie is quite warm. I would agree with getting miniatures though they can be ££

Glenfiddich 15 is by far my favourite. I like it neat with ice.

The Chardonnay cask aged Glen Moray is possible proof God exists ... even DW - who is most assuredly not a whisk(e)y drinker likes the aroma.

Whoever came up with the idea of re-using old barrels for whisky really deserves more credit - at least a place on a banknote Grin

I don't just like southern comfort just happens to be my fave I also like Jack Daniels, Grants, Famous grouse and Bella was debating on trying a bourbon see if I like it but don't want to buy a big bottle in case I don't like it.

Talisker

I like a nice single malt, and prefer the darker coloured, less peaty ones. I had a lovely Japanese whisky recently, The Yamazaki I think it was called.

Also love a bourbon there's usually a bottle of Maker's Mark or Wild Turkey in the house. I was given a bottle of Sazerac Rye for Christmas and its so good.

I like a malt, such as dalwhinnie, welsh whisky Penderyn is lovely or an auchentoshan , or gelnmorangie, just have it over ice, don't like blended whisky or too peaty

Chihaha · 18/01/2020 16:06

I'd try some other bourbons and wouldn't waste the money on decent malts if you drink them with cokes or as shots.

iklboo · 18/01/2020 16:14

Have a look at Masters of Malt website. You can build yourself a taster box of 50ml measures for around £20. That way you save splashing out on a bottle you don't like.

Crown Royal. I'm not a whiskey drinker really but that's lovely
