Anyone else's teens REFUSE to wear a coat?

Even when it's raining DS15 won't.

He walks a mile to school in his jumper and blazer.

I bought him a thin raincoat that would fir in his bag and he won't even wear that.

I'm sure school think I'm some awful parent who hasn't bought him one. He has 3!

Don't worry about it, I have a 1 and 3 year old who refuse coats. It isn't worth the argument unless they're walking somewhere so they regularly go out without one if it's between car and destination walking only.

I saw a teenage girl yesterday in the pouring rain walking back from school, she was drenched and carrying her coat under one arm.

My 12 yr old just about tolerates a light one, that’s an improvement on how he used to be.....

I did this when I was a teen. My kids are the same, the oldest is the worst. It also took me about 7 years to get dp to wear a jacket. I think it looks really bad when it's your kids though. Always feel people will think I'm neglecting them.

Exactly. Especially when he's walking home in a rainstorm.

It's normal. It's their problem if they get soaked. Schools know that many teenagers are allergic to coats and don't blame the parents.

Its normal, they are the ones that are cold and wet, let them get on with it

I remember my DS walking to the train station in heavy snow in just his blazer when he was in 6th form. Oh I laughed. He had numerous coats but he wouldn’t put one on. Now in his 20’s he wears a coat!
