Recommend me a weekend away in the uk

Me & DP want to have a couple of nights away in February but I can't decide where!

Budget is on the low side, we are in Kent but will be in Wiltshire around that time also so near either place is fine. We don't want to do much, just relax, eat nice food, maybe a wander along the beach if it's near the coast (I love the sea any time of year), visit the cinema etc.

Any recommendations please?

Bath or Bristol from Wiltshire. Or even Cardiff.

I’ve just organised a weekend in Bolton but recommend Clifton, Bath, the Cotswolds.

Thank you. I will get googling for hotels

OMG... Lacock!! - gorgeous, the whole town is owned by the National Trust, gorgeous abbey and the Harry Potter gold bowl (& load of other filing done there). Great places to stay.

Barry island Wink

north norfolk anywhere between old hunstanton and cromer.

Bristol and Cardiff both have nice waterfronts, but not exactly beach. But amazing places to eat, walk and cinema. In Cardiff try and see a show at millennium centre. It beats anywhere else I've ever been for theatre.

Rye, but maybe that's too close for you. Has some good restaurants, a bijou cinema, lovely buildings, Camber Sands and marshy nature reserve on the doorstep . . I heartily recommend Jeake's House hotel.

Come to Wiltshire, it’s lovely. No beach but we have canal walks with a lot of pubs! Marlborough is lovely, as is Castle Combe, Devizes, Bath, Bradford on Avon, Lacock. If you want beach it’s a short drive away.

We stayed in the premier inn zip hotel in Cardiff after Christmas. Highly recommended. The castle and shopping in Cardiff is amazing

York! I love York!

I second York (because I live there), but it's not very close to Wiltshire, is it? If you are open to going further afield, Northumberland is nice, round Bamburgh, and there's Alnwick to visit.

Depends what you like though. Beaches and walking? Towns and shopping? Museums, culture or open air and history?

North Yorkshire - pickering/Whitby?

Crawley65 · 17/01/2020 13:09

Bath is great for a short break.
New Forest and a trip to the coast

Greysparkles · 17/01/2020 13:09

Athelington Hall Farm lodges, spent a weekend there last year with DP. Was lovely

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/01/2020 18:11

Bluesheep8 I'd hesitate to recomend Whitby in February to anyone who doesn't have a cast iron constitution. It's nithering!
