Does anyone find the meat portions of Gousto are too small?

Just having a look at the website and it's quite interesting how they tell you the exact grams of the veg, dairy, spices etc that the send, but for two adults they just put "one large chicken breast."

Hmm!! How many grams of meat is this per adult? They don't seem to tell you. And half a chicken breast doesn't go far...

Is this a problem for regular users?

Definitely give it a go if
You have a discount! I worried about portion size because I’m greedy, but found them fine. I didn’t try any meat ones, just the fish and veggie, and they were all delicious.

We use Gousto. Portion size is perfect, we rarely eat again in the evening and if we do it's a biscuit.

Give it a try.

I'm a chef and their portion sizes follow the guidelines for protein, carbs etc.
No difference to what you get in a decent restaurant

I like simply cook. I like it because I have no ingredients sitting around that might go off.

Chicken breast sizes can vary a lot - I normally do 1 each and aim for around 100-120g raw weight each if I'm serving them whole, but sometimes it's impossible to find the right size!

I think 250g mince is plenty for two. I am thrifty and make 500g stretch to 6 servings in a chilli/Bolognese by adding lots of lentils.

At least you can check the portion sizes in advance so you're not faced with a loaves and fishes situation!

I love gousto. 250g of mince is enough for two people. I assume it's for a lasagne or similar. I've stopped using gousto recently and now use simply cook - it's just herbs, spices and sauces but they are so good!

2 adults with big appetites (I'm fat as an egg!) and two whopping teen DS ... I was put off Gousto because of the portion sizes, but started this week and am surprised at the generosity of the portions, easily enough for for 'teamtubby' here!

PickleSarnie · 05/02/2020 22:04

That's exactly what I thought at first. Most chicken based meals from gousto have a single chicken breast between two. And for mince based dishes 250g between two.

But I have never, ever felt short changed by the meals. Most of the meals I end up completely stuffed (and I can definitely put a fair amount away)

The meals are generally not "meat and two veg" and there are loads of other ingredients to bulk them out.

We find the portions pretty generous. The chicken breasts are large ones and I can’t think of a meal we’ve had where we’ve been hungry afterwards.

When the dc were smaller (& less fussy) we were often able to use 2 portions for the 4 of us, maybe supplemented with a bit of extra veg.

And I eat a lot!

I've found the meat is of very good quality so more filling. It's also a more appropriate amount portion size than what we've become used to.
