Which deodourant for a 7 year old?

DD smells. When she sweats is makes her clothes e.g. coat smell and if she wears her coat again, all her clothes smell too.
I've had to get her to wash at lunchtime before sending her back to school in the afternoon. But I can't wash her coat everyday!
She seemed upset today so I think another child might have said something.

I can't help feeling she's a bit young to be wearing deodorant...but needs must. What is a good one for her age?

My DD exactly the same, we use PitStop by Scrubbingtons and this works well for her, despite her sensitive skin,

Neals yard peppermint and lime deodorant is lovely and fresh but not hugely effective. I use it in the winter but need a regular one for summer.

DD uses pitroc too,she needed it when she was about 10 and went through a very feral smelling period of time. She still uses it now as she stays fresh and it doesn't interfere with any other scent she uses.

Make sure you are washing her clothes on a hot wash, 30° isn't hot enough to kill bacteria. Use bio washing powder too. X

Bionsen is aluminium free and has a nice fresh smell so good for pre-teens. Not over-perfumed. Not too expensive either.

I would make sure she is showering morning and evening. Not just a wash.

I'm sure all types of deodorants contain chemicals btw

Everything is chemicals. Air, water, cucumber, arsenic, humans, grass, floor cleaner, apples. All chemicals.

It's not unusual for Year 2's to start getting BO. I would say it's noticeable on a couple of each cohort I've taught. Normal roll on deodorant will be fine 👍🏻

MincePiesGetInMyBelly · 14/01/2020 08:56

My DD uses this one. It's aluminium free and by far the most effective one she's tried - no odour at all gets through

Thanks all. I let her take mine this morning and she complained it took a while to dry. I've bought her the Sure Aluminium free quick dry one as that was the only one without aluminium in our closest shop. Will take a look at what else is around next time I do the big shop to see if there's one which looks more interesting!

She is definitely washing properly and I wash all her clothes at 40, using bio powder.

otherwise they would be age restricted products.
This had never occurred to me, I feel a bit better now.

There is no evidence that aluminium in antiperspirant causes any issues.

I like the Urtekram deodorants (available via Amazon or in health food shops, probably not Holland & Barrett though). Also Neal's Yard as pps have said.

And Green People.

TeamLannister · 14/01/2020 13:57

My DD is 9 and has needed deodorant for couple of years now & no other signs of puberty. She mostly uses a Dr Organic roll on from Holland & Barrett, or Dove stick type one. Both work fine with no irritation.

Fairylea · 14/01/2020 14:04

My ds is 7 and has BO by the end of the day even though he has a proper bath every night. I think I must just make smelly kids Grin He uses a dove men’s roll on and is happy with that. Sometimes he pinches his siblings lynx - it’s like walking around in a teenage locker room. Some kids do start to have BO about this age, it’s not that unusual.
