Los Angeles to Hotel near San Diego - flight and uber or just uber?

I'm flying into LAX in the evening and going to join DH who will be in a hotel 1/2 and hour from San Diego airport.

Should I fly from LAX to San DIego and then get an Uber (get in about 11.30pm to hotel) or get an Uber all the way from LAX.

The costs on the Uber website look about the same (i.e flight and Uber or Uber all the way). Which I'm struggling to believe as its a 2 hour drive.

Any thoughts??

Could you take the metro to LA union station (v easy from LAX) and then Amtrak? I suppose it depends on where you hotel is.

I'd be inclined to get the Uber from LAX to San Diego - by the time you transfer to a flight, check-in, possible delays, etc., you could be half way to SD.

I've never taken an Uber in the US - I did the trip to SD by Greyhound!

Take an uber - then share your location (in the app) with DH if you are worried.

Has anyone taken a 2 hour uber....longest I've ever done is about 20 minutes!!
