GAH! Can anyone please help me connect my mobile to the WiFi in our house please?

I'm going mad! I got a new cheap phone...a Nokia...I never have posh phones, just a cheap unlocked one. They do me fine. Well this one won't let me get onto the internet.

When I turn the WiFi on on the phone it asks for my password...I input the correct password and it just keeps saying "Obtaining IP address"

I've googled and googled but can't work it out. :( I've run out of bloody Data now too so can't read when I go to bed soon...I'm in Oz and it's late here.

After a while it says "IP configuration failure"

Sometimes it does that if the password is wrong, have you double checked all the upper and lower case letters?

No it's definitely, definitely the right password.

Your operating system sounds broken. Do a factory reset, update the OS, and see what happens.

Also...does a hard reset remove everything from my sim or just the phone?

You could try to assign yourself a static IP address in your wifi connection go to the advanced settings and make it static. Change the last number to something like 100

Hi OP. Your SIM should be fine, but it will probably wipe all your personal data. You'll need to look up your phone model, but factory reset usually involves a combination of the power button and the volume down rocker.
