Which supermarket has the best selection of loose fruit?

I'm getting fed up of eating the same 6 pack of apples, same bunch of bananas and throwing out the same most-of-a-bag of tangerines each week. I'd like to make up a nice bowl of mixed fruits - where is best to get one of everything?

I only ever shop at Asda and Lidl, but would venture out with inspiration!

Waitrose has the best quality fruit and veg, and an interesting selection. That said I was in Aldi yesterday and they had lychees and pomegranate

M&S.
We shop at waitrose but not for fruit!

Your local greengrocer or fruit and veg stall

Not a supermarket though sorry!

Morrisons are very good. Lots of loose fruit and veg without plastic wrappings.

KaptenKrusty · 11/01/2020 20:47

Avoid supermarkets is the best option - you need a market or a fruit & veg shop

lovelyupnorth · 11/01/2020 20:48

Greengrocer all the way fuck the supermarkets full of shit.

M&S , by a mile.

Alternatively, if your local town has a proper market, try there.

Spied · 11/01/2020 20:49

Our Lidl had a large selection of fruits last week (many exotic) - sadly all past their best.
I prefer Sainsbury's but you can't beat local independent greengrocer.

PechaKucha · 11/01/2020 21:09

You are all right of course, the greengrocer is the way to go! Funny how we get set in our ways.

I've tried the ones nearby and they're a bit iffy, however a quick google has found a very reputable greengrocers less than ten mins walk from my Sunday morning Zumba class, so I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Thank you all!

We don't have a market or a greengrocer locally but when I'm further afield I always stock up at the next town as it is lovely.

But for normal days I find Tesco much better for fruit and veg than Aldi or Asda but I do use them for other stuff.

Breathmiller · 11/01/2020 21:10

Oh cross post. Lucky you. Well done on finding a greengrocer. Hope its a good one Smile
