DS is 16. In 6th form. He works p/t in hospitality.

He's taking RS a level and is hoping to go to uni but he doesn't know what to do there or after that.

What are your youngsters thinking of doing?

Ds(15) is studying maths, chemistry and physics in that order. Since he's accepted he's not that good at football so unlikely to be a professional footballer 🤦🏻‍♀️, and doesn't want to do anything sports related, he has no idea!!!

DD taking GCSEs this year. Looking to do Applied Sciences, sociology and Health and Social Studies. She has her heart set on studying to be a chiropractor at London South Bank university. I would burst with pride if she got to do that. (And wouldn't at all be looking forward to all those visits to bars and restaurants on the South Bank)

My DS1 is currently in his first year of an Economics and Business Studies degree. He has had his heart set on teaching those subjects since he was in year 8.

PinkyU · 11/01/2020 12:12

Dd1 is studying forensic investigation with applied chemistry and plans on becoming an FI or pathologist.

My DS started Maths, Physics, Economics and Geog AS levels.

He wasn't at all committed, so he left that college with 2ASs, then did a three A level equivalent BTEC in Computing in the knowledge that he could therefore 'only' do something computery with it. He achieved 160 UCAS points.

He's now Y2 at uni (needed 124 to get in) doing software engineering.

Eldest DC did maths and chemistry and is currently studying for a degree in Chemical Engineering (he picked it because “I like maths and chemistry”, it’s very maths heavy I think).

Youngest DC likes computer science, maths, English and German and is tending towards some kind of computing degree.

DS2 knew from 15-16 he wanted to do something in the design field.

Against my advice, he very much narrowed down his options in 6th form, where his GCSE results (1 x A star, 6 x As, 2 x B) would have allowed him onto any A level: but he chose Geog AS, Graphic Design A level and a 2 A level equivalent BTEC in Computer and digital Technologies. He got top grades in all, 168 UCAS points.

He's now doing an Art Foundation with a view to getting into the best Graphic Design degree uni in the country,

My DD is in her last year of high school, 6th year and she’s applying to Uni this week to study photography, if she doesn’t get in then she will go to college first and then Uni, or at least these are her plans right now but it could all change, although she will definitely do further education, just not Uni definitely, however I obviously hope she does well and doesn’t become a young mum like myself and my mother, the cycle needs stopped and I have every faith that she has more brains than to become a teen mum.

Womenwotlunch · 12/01/2020 06:34

Dd wants to work in finance. She is doing four A levels Chemistry , maths, economics and Geography

ChristmasTree999 · 12/01/2020 08:22

Ds did art, IT and something else at A level and will graduate this year in Computer Game Technology. He is a brilliant character designer.
Dd is currently taking a level Economics, Business and Sociology. Maybe thinking about something in event management but doesn’t really have a clue.
