As title said my beautiful, creative daughter turns 13 in a few weeks and has been counting down and and planning her birthday for the last 6 months and is so excited about it.

The trouble is we are absolutely skint and I’m now worried what to do about it and how to make it special for her.

She desperately wants a party, either booking somewhere or with lots of friends staying over but all the places she has suggested have been way over budget and we don’t really have the space for the amount of friends she wants for stay.

Have had the idea of stage/theatre part as she is G4 piano, sings and is at stage school so is really quite into games, role play, acting and singing but I’m not sure how to turn this into a party and how to make it fun for everyone...

My sister is a principal for stage coach so I could deffo get some game ideal and having got a sprocket for her Christmas, thought we could have a prop corner to do selfies with bit does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions as to how to keep the party in theme, food, games etc or can think of anything else that a group of 12/13 year olds would like that would be cheap to carry out...

Also do girls this age still expect party bags?

A night at the Oscars theme works well ( could subtract in DD name awards) I did one for teen DD. Her friends came dressed to impress in red carpet glamour and they paraded down the red (paper) carpet where interviewed and had photos taken. They mingled with moctails served by younger brother in waiter outfit and had a celebrity quiz ( printed out photos on the wall ) We then did a murder mystery party set at an awards night. Lots of canapes and cake. The girls then voted for the awards ( Best dress, Best shoes, best actress in murder mystery, funnyest, kindest, best supporting friend etc) the votes were counted and awards given ( plastic Oscars with stickers - these were the party bags) it went down well and didn't cost a lot. A gold plastic ribbon curtain ( cheap to buy) was a great impact decoration and good for photos.

Agree with love for money an Awards night works well. Gold plated ribbon curtain for selfie taking. You could get the guests to vote for category's ( Best dressed, best actress, best singer, best supporting friend, best comedian etc... You count the votes with some creativity so all get an award) )

I think you’re probably being a bit OTT about the sleepover concerns with sisters and dogs tbh, put the two sisters upstairs and the party in the lounge if you’re worried, and if your dog isn’t safe take her into your room for the night? It seems a shame if she can never have a group sleepover.

Karaoke machine if she's into performing? Could tie in with the awards night thing, get some votes going and announced over the mic and then get the tunes on!
