Uses for Eatlean protein cheese (very low fat cheese)?

I have made a good start on a much needed diet but since I missed cheese like mad I bought 3 packs of Eatlean Red Protein Cheese (i think it was the min you could buy online and no shops seem to sell it). Well, it is funny stuff! I wasnt expecting it to be indistinguishable from normal cheese as it's only 3% fat but it is rubbery and tough and doesn't taste of a huge amount. I have tried melting it and it doesn't really bring much to the party except for presentation.

However, I don't like to waste food and it wasn't cheap so has anyone tried it and found a good use for it? Any veggie recipes perhaps?

Is it like solid cottage cheese? You might have more luck with this question in the low carb section tbh

I'd eat it in slices as a snack, maybe add ham? Or chop it in a salad?

Can you cut it into slabs and grill it like halloumi?

Proudownerofplants · 07/01/2020 20:31

Well it's much more dense than cottage cheese (possibly made that way though), possibly as dense as a parmesan type cheese but kind of chewier. Yeah, could work in a salad, possibly grated more finely than normal. Do I just report the thread for mumsnet to move it?

Xiaoxiong I had a go but it will only heat up enough to melt then goes weirdly crisp and burnt tasting if that makes sense.

Could you add it with normal cheese to bulk out cheese sauce but make it less "full fat"

foamrolling · 07/01/2020 21:30

It's pretty awful. The only thing I found it good for was to add a sort of cheesy ish taste and texture to dishes like macaroni and cheese - I found a great low fat recipe using cottage cheese and that stuff. It was actually quite nice. You can also mix it with 'normal' cheese to reduce the calorie/fat that way

Proudownerofplants · 07/01/2020 21:43

That sounds good, foamrolling will try and find a recipe

Low carbers tend to eat high fat. Not weird muck like this.
