According to today's times. I'm pretty sure they've got it wrong.
I'm a practicing Catholic and have two, my parents are Anglicans and have one.
Many priests I know have cats and I managed to convert a bishop friend into a devoted cat slave. After being adamant he wasn't having a cat. He has two!

My cats are quite Unitarian if that helps explain it, Toddlerteaplease Wink (and very easily bought).

Just jumped out my basket, where I was having a snooze, to let you know that I'm quite partial to the dogmas of faith, though not so keen on catechism. Would be a regular attender but the priest says my singing sounds like howling and I shed a lot on the pews!

(Excuse any typos - the old paws slip around on the keyboard, you know!)

Woof.

Apparently it's because having cats as something to serve/ worship takes the place of God/Religion.

My cat agrees with this.

DH and I are committed Christians and are slaves to 6 cats. I know 2 Anglican priests who have multiple cats and read of one whose 9 cats always go to services with him.

Have you Heard the joke about the two dogs and one cat who went up to heaven. To decide whether they should be allowed in God asked them each what they had learned in their lives. The first dog said he had learnt to love and to be obedient to his master. Second dog says much the same. When the cat was asked he replied “I think you’re in my seat”

I'm a churchgoer with a tortoise. Wouldn't have anything furry, dog or cat, can't cope with the hair.
