ESA medical appointment - but intending to return to work by Feb

Hi
I’m supposed to have my medical assessment for ESA this week. I made the claim following a period off work for anxiety. My company sick pay ran out and they advised me to claim for ESA.

However I am doing much better now with meds and CBT. I am planning to return back to work by end of Jan. Should I even attend this appointment? I am receiving the assessment rate and obviously it would help if I could at least get this until I go back. But I’m assuming that I won’t pass anyway and it seems pointless if my payments will stop immediately from the date of the assessment?

If you don’t go your payment will stop immediately. If you go you will get paid while they make a decision which could be long enough that you keep getting paid until you go back to work

Thank you, I wasn’t sure if that was the case. I might have to go then, even though I feel terrified
