How likely am I to catch a bug? (From an emetophobe)

So I've had my sick phobia fairly under control for a few years but I've been set back today. I parked in a car park with DH and kids and when they opened the doors their side of the car there was a huge puddle of sick. DH commented it was gross, stepped round it and gave it no further thought. But now I'm convinced one of them got it on their shoes and will now bring a bug into the house. I'm freaking out Confused

I am not a doctor or a scientist, but I can't see any likelihood of catching a bug from something brought in on someone's shoes, assuming that: 1) Anyone stepped in it at all, which sounds doubtful. 2) They haven't already walked it off, and: 3) You keep shoes away from food prep areas and sweep/vacuum your hallway on a normal schedule. You are absolutely not going to catch it.

It could be car-sick sick or Friday-night-drinking sick as opposed to bug-sick anyway.

ok so I am an emetophobe and I recently had therapy to help (which has worked to an extent) so I would say:

what are the chances that it came from a bug? I would say 50/50 on that one at this time of year. Could be hangover, morning sickness, reaction to medication, car sickness, someone with cyclic vomiting syndrome...the list is very long really.

do you make your kids remove their shoes at the door and do you all wash hands before food prep/eating? Im guessing as a emetophobe that this is a yes.

There is often vomit on the path on my way to work (busy city centre) so I have this worry a lot but the last time I caught a bug was almost 5 years ago on holiday.

My husband has cleared up all the kids vomit and been vomited on by them regularly and never caught anything in the whole time I have known him.

Try and calm down, it will be fine.

Thank you all, this is just what I needed to hear. I hate being an emetophobe, especially at this time of year Sad
