Question to those who don't have spouses who have money or pensions etc: have you got your own savings plan in place, seeing as many posters will have years between retirement and state pension age? How are you saving up? Have you calculated what you will need to live on?

i'll be retiring at 66. i'm 64 in March and could access my teaching pension now but my husband is 6 yrs younger than me so we're saving all my salary at the moment so he can retire at the same time and we can travel. We have a motorhome and would like to spend longer in Europe than we can at present.

Wauden both DH and I have pensions but yes we have already had financial advice about how much to save to bridge the gap between early retirement and accessing our pensions/state pension.
