Does anyone have any negotiating tips when buying a new car please?

I am off to a car show room today and I was hoping some of you may have tips.

It will be a new lease car with our old lease as a deposit. We are at the end of a 3 year lease. Car is in good condition.

Can I negotiate and how can I do it effectively?

They will ask what you want to pay monthly - suggest at least £30 below what you want to pay to leave room for haggling.

If they won’t give any more cash discounts and you are not happy ask for free servicing, mats etc.

Be prepared to walk away.

Do some research online before hand on what PCP terms are like.

Be flexible on what make and model works for you.

Be certain of your must haves - eg sat nav, air con etc

Probably doesn't help in your situation but if buying outright or on finance (not lease) then get prices from Car Wow and use them to get the showroom to match.

Don’t go today. You will definitely get a better deal in the last week of the month.

Do your research about what it is you want.
