We are going on holiday this Saturday. I've booked the Eurostar to Paris, with one hour and 10 minutes to change, then on to the train to Nice.
Needless to say the strikes have put a bit of a dampner on it all.... I'm not good on crowded public transport at the best of times....
I booked Ryanair tickets as backup a couple of days ago (it's incredibly cheap to book just the ticket - the real cost would be all the skiing gear ....). Tomorrow is decision day....
I haven't bought travel insurance yet.
Tonight Eurostar has cancelled two trains to Paris (not mine) and SNCF has confirmed that my onwards train to Nice will still run. However, Eurostar is also confirming that it will offer refunds.
What would you do? I suppose the worst case scenario is that we get stuck in Paris and have to buy new tickets... maybe stuck in Lyon overnight or something.
Also, is anyone in Paris and able to offer insight on the metro situation? We arrive at Gare du Nord at midday and have to get to Gare de Lyon in just over an hour.
