DH has washed his dark jeans and stained the entire wash

......which consisted of all of DDs new, white clothes she had for Christmas.

All of her new clothes are now stained with dark blue blotches and everything is now a tone of grey.

Not that it matters, but it's Calvin Klein (all white, now full of blue blotches) and Hollister stuff (salmon pink now patchy grey).

I saved hard all bloody year for this. DD is now on her bed sobbing having never owned branded stuff before and couldn't believe her eyes on Christmas day Sad

I'm trying damn hard not to murder DH for his sheer stupidity.

Please, please is there a magic tip to get rid of the blue?!

Dr Beckmann colour run remover - can get in supermarkets. Not sure what materials it can be used on though. Fingers crossed it helps.

Bluewavescrashing · 29/12/2019 12:57

Make him buy her new stuff if it can't be saved.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/12/2019 12:58

Keep it wet for now. Don't allow to dry, so in the bath. Get colour run stuff and try it. Doesn't always work.

PerkingFaintly · 29/12/2019 13:00

Second the Dr Beckmann products – as soon after the disaster as possible.

I'd even put in colour catcher cloths, to mop up as much as possible of the colour released by the Dr B run remover product.

And maybe do the re-wash in several small loads, to avoid more cross-contamination?

ch3rrycola · 29/12/2019 13:00

Think he's going to have to cough up and replace them I'm afraid. And rightly so, his mistake.

PerkingFaintly · 29/12/2019 13:07

Agree, don't let it dry.

This is the Dr B's Colour Run Remover:
www.dr-beckmann.co.uk/product/colour-run-remover/

Here are the colour catcher cloths, to double up:
www.dr-beckmann.co.uk/product/colour-dirt-collector-cloth/

For the whites, you could afterwards hit them with:
www.dr-beckmann.co.uk/product/glowhite-clothes-whitener/

(Where by "you" I mean your idiot DH, who should be doing the work here...)

If laundry has dried, don't panic. It's still worth trying the above.

As a PP says, no guarantees it will work, but for brand new expensive gear... well worth a try.

Daisydoola · 29/12/2019 13:13

Oh I would bloody kill him.

Try the above and if not he'll have to replace it. He will do that won't he?

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 29/12/2019 13:13

Is your DP stupid?
Even not knowing anything about laundry you should know not to put a dark pair of jeans in with white clothes.
What a bellend.

I'd have him going to buy new clothes for that stupidity alone.

Your poor DD Sad

Lulualla · 29/12/2019 13:15

He's going to have to replace them; even if that means selling things of his own, which he can replace in time when money allows. He fucked it up, he needs to be the one to go without. She should have her things back.

It also teaches your kids a lesson that when you make a mess of someone else's belongings, you must put it right even if it causes you to lose out.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 29/12/2019 13:17

Send him to the sales to get her something that's still pristine and try the colour run stuff.

Limbodoo · 29/12/2019 17:05

Unfortunately DH proceeded to put the load into the tumble dryer after he washed it so it's also bone dry.

I popped out and got a load of products (thanks for the advice it's very much appreciated!), the stains are fading although I doubt it'll be back to how they were. They're currently having another wash in the machine. Used the Dr Beckman stuff and also Vanish stain remover. Got a box of the colour catching sheets also.

DH knows full well DDs stuff will need replacing (he's also really cross with himself).

I really feel for DD. She's gutted Sad

Thanks again MN!
