Quick ideas for a bit of great fire of London sightseeing

DC1 has Christmas homework to learn about the great fire of London and I was thinking of popping up to London today to have a look. Apart from the obvious (pudding lane, monument), what else would you recommend we see?

Also - as it’s a Sunday and the trains are chaos because of the strikes we will probably drive. Any good suggestions for parking somewhere cheap and convenient to hop on the tube from?

Thanks!

Thanks all - we actually had a really good day, we got most of the above in, and apparently I’ve done 16k steps and walked just oven 10 km (which means my 5 year old did too!). Your suggestions were really helpful and I think we got a lot from the day.

@BikeRunSki sorry about your dad, that’s really sad Flowers

I showed paternoster row to dd - tiny street by St. Paul’s but in the Middle Ages it was the centre of book production and selling.

It was again after the Great Fire. And it was destroyed again in another Great Fire of London, on the night of 29-30 December 1940. 79 years ago tonight.

Don’t worry @foxatthewindow, it was over 25 years ago. Glad you had a good day.

Make sure you pay your ulez charge!

Good point @Pinkflipflop85 - thankfully according to the website our car is ulez exempt, but I wouldn’t have thought to check!

Perhaps the most amusing part of the day is that our DC loved the London Calling exhibit at the museum and now think The Clash are somehow implicated in the Great Fire
