I'm 42. Getting married in July and I'd love to look better and feel better about myself.

I've got a code to join PureGym... I think classes will be best as I have no clue about machines etc.

I have nothing to wear... help in all areas needed 🙈🙈

Just get some black sports leggings or trousers and a sweat wicking t shirt type top eg from Sainsbury's. Spend your money on trainers.

Get an induction for the machines.

But really classes are best you just show up & do as you're told for an hour and you're done. Plus you might get to know some people. Get there 5 min before the class and tell the instructor you're new. Ideally you can go at the back but some instructors like newbies near the front to keep an eye on technique. Don't worry about being new as even seasoned gym goers take up new classes from time to time so nobody's judging

All the above, plus daytime classes s the demographic is reassuringly older!
I got married last July at 51 having started gym classes in March, and I must say I looked bloody gorgeous!
I am an Apple shape, and did TRX classes which sucked me middle in and gave me a waist. I have been lighter, but not looked better than after a few months gym classes.

Take a bottle of water and small towel

work out how the lockers operate

if you're using the gym (not classes), take Bluetooth headphones.

Do a decent warm up and down, stretch lots!

Try a variety of classes until you find ones you enjoy.

Try yoga once a week

You've had great advice above already so I'm not going to repeat. Just wanted to say go for it! The feeling of being the newbie passes really quickly and at this time of year, you certainly not be alone. Take all the advice and help on offer from instructors and try lots of things. You'll see the benefits quickly.
