Is my friend right in saying my eating disorder treatment is unusual

I’m under cmht and currently suffering from problems with eating. I’m booked in for blood tests in the new year. My friend who also has an eating problem monitored by cmht has said she is weighed regularly and also asked about mensural cycles etc. I’ve never been asked either of these things. Is this unusual?

I have had treatment for eating disorders for years- I wasn’t weighed regularly it was more the therapy side of it. I’m discouraged from weighing as it fluels my anxiety about weight and food and I’m suprised your friend is weighed regularly

It depends on your BMI and the approach of the team you are working with. They won't want you to significantly change your diet immediately if you have a very low BMI until the bloods show if there's a risk of refeeding. While I know teams that use regular weighing as a way to monitor if someone is at risk of immediate harm and might need a hospital admission, the main part of the work will always be spoken therapy.

Thank you for replies we are both at similar bmi’s Which is why she was surprised.

Because, as you've said in previous posts, you haven't had a confirmed diagnosis of an eating disorder yet.

If you are, then it's likely that upon referral to the team that specialises in EDs, that the procedures will change as part of your treatment and monitoring.

They apparently don’t refer to eating disorders services here if you have co morbid condition.
