Someone just busted into my brand new car

I was parked (in a legal space). Had just got into the car, looked into my rear view mirror to check (was about to reverse) when she swung in to park behind me and smashed my rear passanger light and chipped my bumper.
She admitted it was a 'split second' decision.
Was she at fault?

If you were stationary, then yes, it's 100% her fault. Did you exchange details?

AteAllTheAfterEights · 28/12/2019 14:50

Yes, if you were stationary and she was moving. Let your insurance deal with it

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/12/2019 14:51

Well, if she was the only one moving then yes, of course she was!

Borkins · 28/12/2019 14:51

Yes exchanged details, took pictures etc
To be fair she was reasonable and shaken like I was.
Bummer Sad

Flowers It's awful, but it's done and you weren't injured. Let your insurer deal with it, and give yourself a cup of tea and a lie down if you're a little shaken up.

The day after I bought my (new to me) car a runaway trailer belonging to my dad's neighbour ran into it and made a hole in the side. I was speechless with the shock. My insurance company were brilliant, though.

I'm so pissed off as its brand new car
But yes, people more important than metal. No one hurt at least

I have only ever bought one brand new car and someone smashed into the drivers door really badly a couple of months after I bought it! All my other cars have been second hand, some came with a few scrapes and bumps already, and none of them have ever got bumps while I've owned them. Typical!! Hope you get sorted.
