Hi, we are planning to move to Hemel Hempstead. How is it as a town generally? I have a two-year old daughter so looking for safe areas with good schools and good transportation links. Any recommendation is most welcomed! Thanks in advance!

Leverstock green, Boxmoor, Chaulden all nice areas with good schools. Boxmoor/Chaulden is great for the rail station into Euston and the right side of town to get to the M25. Leverstock Green is best for M1.
Adeyfield, Bennett’s End and Highfield are considered a bit rough but I wouldn’t say anywhere is ‘unsafe’. Gadebrige, Warner’s End and Woodhall farm are nice in places but you have to choose carefully. Gadebridge has some really great primary schools. Same for Apsley however I would generally avoid due to awful traffic.
Good luck with your move and let me know if you want more info!

I would agree with apsley and boxmoor being nice . You need to live pretty near the ‘outstanding ‘ school to get in in apsley though .
Hemel isn’t the ‘prettiest’ town but I have found it good living here the last few years . I don’t feel unsafe when out and about and there is lots to do from cinema and massive park at gadebridge to the snow centre .

@Frariedeamin thanks a lot! this has been a great help already. Do you know which primary schools are seen better than others?

@wendz86 this is great to know. which schools are better than others? I can see most of them are rated as 'good'. Are there any traditionally better schools than others? Thanks!

www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/

90% of schools in England are rated good or outstanding so you might like to have a look at the website above for more info.

A friend used to live quite near the train station and I found it very pretty around there.
