Moaning thread about terrible ex's who don't see their kids at Christmas

My ex is away for 5 weeks. Not for work, on holiday. He's not seeing his kids over Christmas, new year or his son's birthday. He also got them sweets to open on Christmas Day (had given them better presents mid dec however), and didn't call them on Christmas Day either. Dickhead. Apparently it's their fault for not calling him although they text him because he hadn't contacted them. He's gone from being a decent dad to a waste of head space. My kids are gutted.

Rant over.

Feel free to have a moan.

My ex didn't buy for the dc. Accidentally put some cash in ds's account and rang him to ask for it back!!.
Beat that...
Didn't even ask to see them..

IdiotInDisguise · 27/12/2019 22:44

Not a call, not a present, not a message. No moans either.

Jesus, asking for the money back is a cracker. Mine was trying to melt my daughter's head earlier. He has stooped lower than even I thought he was capable of. I wish he'd bugger off completely as them living with some kind of hope is just horrible to watch. They're like bears in a trap, gnawing their own paw off trying to get his attention.

And thanks for the replies- I don't want to moan in real life. I'm sick of being pofaced single mum that hates her ex. Cliched as anything 😉

So he’s away for 5 weeks? Wouldn’t it be awful if someone kept mailing mackerel to his home address.

OhMyDarling · 27/12/2019 23:11

My youngest dd’s dad didn’t bother. But at least he’s consistent. 14yrs of sweet FA.
His mother said she had bought tickets to an event. It transpired she didn’t. Event was today and we sat around waiting for her to be picked up. Exmil didn’t turn up.
So nothing from her/rest of that family either. She’s totally batshit so I now just respond with “Oh ok then.”
Not rising to it. DD can’t be doing with her anyway and is pretty used to such let down. We went to the cinema instead.

My dads family all went on their “holiday of a life time” (think it’s the 4th or 5th such holiday this year alone) so had nothing from them either. In fact haven’t heard from them at all. So 2 generations feeling let down by pretty selfish nonRP’s. I know I’m a grown up, but it still stings.

Love the run up to Xmas, hate actual Xmas.

So sorry you are experiencing this💐

surlycurly · 27/12/2019 23:23

@Biscusting that's genius. And it's just the contrast that's so difficult in my situation. @OhMyDarling what a shitty situation. My ex is always late but at least he did used to turn up when he used to see them. He's having a lovely time apparently. Shame my daughter cried so hard she hiccuped sobbed for half an hour after she spoke to him tonight. As dire as he is, they miss their dad.

@surlycurly That’s so awful, your poor DD... 😢

My kids got a card this year for the first time in a decade! It was written by the ex's girlfriend, was fairly inappropriate for their age, and contained a cheque from one of his parents (who never send cards, gifts etc) so nothing at all from him again.

They unfortunately are used to it. Nothing for the last 10 years for birthdays or Christmases, he doesn't ask to see them (that would increase his annual quota of visits to 3!!), cursory phonecall mid-morning if he can be bothered. Fuckwit.

RightOnTheEdge · 28/12/2019 14:18

My ex didn't bother to even call over Christmas. Not even a message to say happy Christmas to them.
He will no doubt turn up or call sometime in the next few weeks acting all normal.
The dc are so used to it that they haven't even mentioned it.

He makes me sick.

kimlo · 28/12/2019 14:23

dd2s Dad came to my house with his new girlfriend to drop her christmas presents off.

Unfortunatly he had already recived a caution for harassment against me and had just been told on the friday that another charge was going to cps for stalking and harassment against me. He is now bailed with conditons not to contact me directly or indirectly and not to be in the same area as my house, since he obviously isn't getting the hint when the police tell him no contact, and has anoyher charge waiting for a cps decision.

Wish he hadn't bothered.

surlycurly · 28/12/2019 14:40

Christ what a bunch. It's a shame they don't come with a disclaimer at the beginning that they'll be shit in the future. At least we'd be mentally prepared.
