Would you be a bit hacked off if your 18th birthday consisted of college followed by a long drive to see a close relative off at the airport? I'm trying not to be too judgemental - they might be going out at the weekend - but I felt a bit Hmm when I heard.

(For context this family is UK based and not JW or anything like that. DC friend.)

I'd assume they were celebrating on a different day - if not, then that is a bit shitty.

If you mean the day of their actual birthday - completely normal to have to go to work or college and do chores and general life stuff.

Oh yeah, I'm not talking about the college bit, more the lack of an evening.

As a kid I had to go to school, do my homework etc. on my birthday, but always had a special meal, present and cake on the day, even if it wasn't anything major. I wouldn't have been dragged out to an airport 50 miles away.
