Surprise Guest today. What to I need to bring?

We are going to family today, and very last minute another close family member wants to come. Everyone will be delighted to see new guest, but I'd like to bring certain things to help the host.

So far have thought of the following.
Duvet and pillow
Spare chair
Extra pigs in blankets

Anything else? The lack of gifts wont be an issue on either side.

It's an overnight stay.

Does the host know they are coming? They might not be quite so keen on the 'surprise'?!

are you sure the hosts will be delighted? I can imagine a disgruntled AIBU from them later!

The close family member isn’t invited? Then don’t just turn up.

IME there's always plenty to spare today - how about breakfast stuff for tomorrow, extra milk etc?

I wouldn't be best pleased at a surprise guest (that's a gatecrasher btw) just turning up on Christmas Day no matter what they brought to ease their stay!

I'm guessing military or lives overseas. So if that's the case what you're bringing is enough. Family will be delighted. Have a lovely Christmas and reunion!

Doesn’t sound like a surprise to me, just they’ve changed their plans last minute.

Think along the lines of military from overseas.....it will 100% be welcomed!

Bring
Alcohol ( case of beer/ cider box of wine )
As PP said breakfast stuff milk a selection of pastries , cereal, .
But o think the best thing that could do is help with the spud peeling , pot washing , table setting etc .

Maybe a camp bed or blow up mattress to ease the unexpected sleeping arrangements. And if you're staying... take your own towels so host isn't left with piles of laundry!

Like the ideas, sounds fantastic!

How about alcohol & breakfast stuff & do the washing up?

Family member needs a gift for the hosts - nice bottle of booze maybe?

Extra pillow/couple of towels.
Another bottle of booze and spare cheese/a pudding.

It's all gone well. Took the advice on extras to take and it's all been great.
