I'm feeling all sad and shouldn't but my psyche betrays me every now and then. My DPs exW just got engaged good for her but it reminds me we're still not engaged. Here's the thing I don't particularly want to get married I just want the proposal for the most part (and the big wedding but then I have no one to invite so that's a moot point). We have a happy life and a beautiful son. I know that's what matters but I can't help feeling sad.

The op showed us a picture of a very pretty ring that she likes but she would not necessarily have that ring, just one like it.

Anyway it's up to them what they spend their money on, it doesn't affect us.

Thanks Blue that was the point of that link. In a nutshell i don't think marriage will change our lives in any way at all, to me (and to him) we already live a married life. We just skipped the engagement and the party.

Yes I know Pottering but in real terms I don't see the difference between what I have and marriage.

Then why get married? Why not just have a massive new year / birthday / anniversary party?
