Has my DH got a bad hangover or a stomach bug?

Hi all. I have a phobia of stomach bugs and am now in a spiral of panic being this close to Xmas... DH went out last night, had 8 pints a double g and t and a jagerbomb. He's spent all day feeling terrible and hasn't left the sofa. All that points to a hangover. He felt constipated this morning and had three small but normal poos, but then he had one poo that was water. He's also got chills and is shivering. He's hungry, and has been all day but just hasn't fancied much. He has also had a cough for a few days so I suppose the chills could be that coming out as a cold / flu... Do you think it's a bad hangover or a stomach bug? Or I don't know what... I'm sorry I'm rambling but I'm so worried it's a stomach bug that me and / or DS will catch and it will ruin Xmas 😩

Hangover

ChanandelerBong · 22/12/2019 20:09

My problem is I've now convinced myself it's a stomach bug so I've made myself feel ill!

Thanks @LeNil even after he had the bad poo I thought so too but it's the chills that have worried me. One episode of Diarrhea is unlikely to be a stomach bug isn't it?

No vomiting? I would say hangover.

ChanandelerBong · 22/12/2019 20:12

@Selfsettling3 no vomiting

ChanandelerBong · 22/12/2019 20:13

Thanks @chipsandpeas I'm hoping that's all it is

@Selfsettling3 also no stomach cramps and he hasn't felt sick, just felt like he needed a poo for most of the morning

Sounds like a hangover to me, and I'm another sick bug phobic who leaps to the worst case scenario with things like this!

I have had horrendous diarrhoea in the past with a hangover, alcohol can wreak absolute havoc with the digestive system!

FairyOnTheTree · 22/12/2019 20:17

Also- if he had a sick bug he would be VERY unlikely to feel hungry so that is a big tick in favour of hangover too.

ChanandelerBong · 22/12/2019 20:18

Thanks @FairyOnTheTree I'm hoping it's that, to be honest it's the chills that worried me the most for some reason that's made me utterly convinced it's a tummy bug

Hangover. I'm always cold when I'm tired and I tend to be tired when I'm hungover.

FairyOnTheTree · 22/12/2019 20:20

Does this help?

Has my DH got a bad hangover or a stomach bug?
peanutdust · 22/12/2019 20:22

Sounds like a hangover but for me I always get the runs and be sick the next day so I'd be no help. Hope he feels better soon lol

ChanandelerBong · 22/12/2019 20:23

Thanks everyone you're all so lovely I was fully prepared to be told to get a grip of myself and grow up!!

I'm a huge stomach bug phobic.

Like to the point I will now barely sleep until Christmas morning as I'm so paranoid the Noro is going to ruin our Christmas.

If we get to Christmas morning vomit free and everyone has an appetite then I'll finally calm down.

Anyway.

Doesn't sound like a bug. We had it last summer and you can't even think of food. Let alone say the words "I'm hungry"

Also - last time I drank too much I got awful awful diarrhoea. And had chills and all sorts. Was horrendous.

Hence why since that incident (which was months ago) I don't mix drinks or have more than a couple.

Sounds to me like you're safe. But I mean bleach the bathroom well anyway.

ChanandelerBong · 22/12/2019 20:33

Thanks @MaryPopppins x

So other people have had chills with hangovers then? It's so long since I had a hangover I can't remember if I used to get chills with them or not!!

Click on the photo I posted above- hangover chills are a recognised thing!

NamechangeProtectIdentity · 22/12/2019 21:26

100% hangover. And sounds like hes milking it too. A day on the sofa??

ChanandelerBong · 22/12/2019 21:43

@NamechangeProtectIdentity I know right? But it's very very unlike him, which is another reason I've been worried. But he has been coughing for a few days and has had a really sore throat so maybe he just crashed today and took the opportunity to have a rest x

We'll see how he is tomorrow 🙈

A dose of the trots and feeling like I can't get any heat into me are two sure signs that I've got a hangover. So it could well be that.
