How do i best get candle wax out of a carpet??

Guest had a bit of a mishap with a scented candle and spilled wax on my carpet. Oops.

I thought of putting kitchen paper on top and ironing it to re-melt and absorb the wax, anyone have any better suggestions? A perfect result isn't imperative as the carpet is old and landlord relaxed, I just need to get rid of it as best I can.

Thanks!

I did that once and discovered that the carpet was synthetic!! So it might make it worse by melting the carpet!!
Sorry to not offer an alternative suggestion :(

Graffiti no way!! Didn't think of that, good point. I will try a low heat on a small area

I've got it out by using kitchen roll and an iron. Just make sure the iron is fairly cool and be really careful to be quick.

Try warm water and a dab if dish washing liquid, work it through with your fingers first to soften the wax and then use a soft scourer

I spilt some wax and blotted it immediately. Then I ironed it over kitchen paper. I believe brown paper works too, but haven’t tried it. I’ve heard that freezing with ice cubes and scraping works as well.

I hadn’t spilt much and it came off.

Yes put kitchen roll over it . Then a tea towel and iron on tea towel with a hot iron. It will melt and be absorbed. Works a treat. Just don't have iron too hot . I start off low heat then increase as needed so as not to burn the carpet .

Iron over kitchen roll or a brown paper bag and iron over the wax

Iron and brown paper

Brilliant, thanks everyone. I've given it a go and seem to have soaked up a lot of wax... will.have to see how it looks when it cools again. I know LL is changing the carpets at some point so a slight stain won't be the end of the world, just probably best if it isn't obviously wax.
