County Court Claim for parking of a car I’ve never owned

Hello,
I’ve received a County Court Claim letter this morning regarding a parking fine fir a car I’ve never owned.

Earlier this year I received a parking claim for it but called the company, explained it wasn’t my car and was told to ignore.

I also contacted the DVLA who said this car was registered to me and gave me details on how to get it removed. I did this and haven’t given it any more thought.

So this CC letter comes through today. I called the DVLA who said the information I sent was never acted on and this car is still showing under my name.

The parking offence dates back to 2016, 200 miles from where I live, in a car I have never driven or owned and is now SORN’d.

Googling is getting me nowhere but I’m freaking out about it now and know it won’t be sorted anytime soon and being pregnant is not helping the situation- gah.

Does anybody be have any advice. I’m writing to the DVLA again today to get this car removed from my file but not sure what else I need to do.

Thanks for all of the advice.

@gobbynorthernbird I’ve done as you suggested and responded to the claim (via online gov portal). I’ve disagreed and give details as to why. Should I also send a letter with evidence (e-mails/ letters?)

Not sure what to do regarding the -bloody useless- DVLA at this point though?

@ShivD the court won't want evidence yet. But, hopefully, if you send it to the company that issued the proceedings, they will discontinue.
If they don't discontinue, and it gets to Directions stage, then make sure you fill in the DQ.
It's a bit shit but many people end up with CCJs by not dealing with the paperwork in a timely manner because they get overwhelmed. The forms are actually not that hard to complete, you just need to read through carefully.

You can request to have the court location changed to one nearer you.

Does the letter say something like “letter before claim” or “letter of claim”.

I’m fighting a parking charge and have had a few letters purporting to be court letters but none yet have actually been from the court. The parking firms are very sneaky and write all sorts of official looking letters threatening bailiffs, etc.
