What novels have your 16-year-old DDs enjoyed recently?

Looking for inspiration for Christmas presents and posting here for traffic. DD has broad taste in novels. The one type she doesn't like is the kind of where the problems of a shy teenage girl are magically sorted (after a few ups and downs along the way) by finding a wonderful boyfriend by the end of the novel. Anything else considered! Thanks!

Hunger Games series, twilight series , divergent series
Magicians guild series-trudi canavan
About a boy - Maggie alderson
Secret dreamworld of a shopaholic - Sophie kinsella
Gone series - Michael Grant
Maze runner series
The knife of never letting go

Thank you for the suggestions. DD has a strong sense of empathy, so I'd be a bit wary of anything particularly dark or with particularly graphic violence.

How about Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, Dragondrums by Anne Mccaffrey?
