I could cry it was so expensive, I only had a few slices and forgot to put it back. Kitchen is warm (not in UK) would you risk it or chuck it?

It will be fine

PurpleDaisies · 18/12/2019 20:01

I’d eat it (before I went vegan!).

Skinnychip · 18/12/2019 20:02

I'd say fine as well

GreenBasket · 18/12/2019 20:02

I would risk it. Often buy salami et al from food fayres etc. and it's just in a sweaty plastic bag all day. Not dead yet!

RunningNinja79 · 18/12/2019 20:03

I take a meat wrap to work for my lunch most days (Im a boring bugger who can't think what else to have) which has salami in. Leave it in my desk drawer throughout the day and eat about 5 hours into work. Done me no harm.

goodwinter · 18/12/2019 20:06

It's cured meat! It's not even a risk.

gluteustothemaximus · 18/12/2019 20:07

Bacteria grow rapidly at temperatures between 40 °F and 140 °F;salamideli meat should be discarded ifleft outfor more than 2 hours at room temperature.

Headlikeasieve1 · 18/12/2019 20:07

Ok, thank you I will try to forget about the time it spent sitting out. It's so delicious.

Yes it's fine. Have you seen how it's made? Best I ever had was made by an Italian family who got together annually to make it. It was all hung in the basement of the grandmas house to cure. No fridges.

Oblomov19 · 18/12/2019 20:10

Completely fine. Why or earth would you think it wouldn't be?

SeigneurLapindeGrantham · 18/12/2019 20:12

Definitely ok

Headlikeasieve1 · 18/12/2019 20:14

I thought it might be risky as it's pork. Pork and chicken I'm cautious about, a bit more relaxed about beef. If it was fish or prawns it'd be in the bin already.

I don’t think you even need to refrigerate salami, we just do because we are used to it.

Ragwort · 18/12/2019 20:16

Of course it’s OK, how do you think people coped before fridges? Or for most of the worlds population that don’t have a fridge. Hmm.

What happened to common sense these days?

SauvignonBlanche · 18/12/2019 20:16

Post it to me (second class) and I’ll happily eat it.

happycamper11 · 18/12/2019 20:16

Isn't salami air dried for weeks? It's cured meat it will be absolutely fine. I'd even eat chicken after only 2 hours though

Headlikeasieve1 · 18/12/2019 20:16

I know it's cured but are modern curing processes as good as preserving meat? I read an article ages ago that said a lot of modern cheaper end 'smoked' food isn't properly smoked at all, it just adds smoky flavour.

Though this salami is from some artisan deli place so should be authentically cured I guess.

It will be more than fine. It wouldn't enter my head that it wouldn't be. Is it growing mold? . The point of salami is to preserve meat. Probably ok for a year or more.

honeybeetheoneandonly · 18/12/2019 20:54

It's fine. It's cured. In some shops they aren't even in the cooling section.
You are advised to refrigerate them once cut open. Unless you are leaving it out in the summer sun for hours it will be fine (and I'd probably still eat it then).

GoFiguire · 18/12/2019 21:12

Have you tried any OP? Are you still alive?

absopugginglutely · 18/12/2019 21:25

It’s reeeeelly salty you’ll be fine!
