Why is buying a house so stressful?

We've been trying to buy a house since July. The broker was not clear about many thing which delayed it all but the bottom line is that the house was not even worth buying. So we're back to square one having to keep a pristine credit history because we don't know how long it will take us to find another house. We need a massive house (4bed) for our tiny budget (200k). Those houses do exist but are hard to find.

We’ve given up and are looking at staying in a rental for now (we are trying to move 200 miles away though).

Every time we got close to the final hurdle, the brokers and mortgage lenders wouldn’t believe that Dh would still commute here for two days a week even with a letter from his boss stating that he works mainly remotely. Like we were going to get a mortgage and then give up work.

Now we are having trouble trying to rent a place too, a couple of agencies have raised suspicion.

I feel for you, it’s so stressful.

That's terrible! We can't give up as rentals for that size of house are extortionate.

We put our lives on hold for three months and all for nothing! What's worse DH I'd super picky and pretty much wants a house ready to move in. With our budget those are herder to find

I know the feeling well. And having to keep a perfect credit score. My car is about to give up the ghost, I’m praying it last until after we move.

And my Dh is the same - wants the perfect kitchen and bathroom and discarded several houses with not so nice ones that we could save to replace in a few years anyway!
