Wow, if that’s true that’s amazing. We have a uv torch.

LoseLooseLucy · 16/12/2019 18:40

I didn't know and I'm slightly disappointed my children don't have nits to try it out Xmas Shock

rubyismyworld · 16/12/2019 18:40

Wow! Thanks OP for sharing. Good luck!

Panpastels · 16/12/2019 18:41

I wonder if this works with fleas 🤔

Ylvamoon · 16/12/2019 18:42

... too late mine are teens! 😢😢😢

Cathpot · 16/12/2019 18:42

I will be trying it out in 3 days time when we go through the whole palaver again- I’m almost looking forward to it now

That's a game changer. For the first time ever, I'm slightly disappointed that my kids don't have nits!

GuyFawkesDay · 16/12/2019 18:47

I'm going to test this on our Gecko's live food as they gave chitin based shells.....will report back 🕵️

WinnieTheW0rm · 16/12/2019 18:49

The only people who say this works are the manufacturers.

Will be interested to see MNetters reviews, but not holding my breath

Cathpot · 16/12/2019 18:56

Well- I’ll be sitting in a darkened bathroom on Thursday with my black light and hope in my heart. I’ll let you know how it goes

Who has a UV light hanging about?! I just remembered, I went to a kid's party in a UV lit room, and one kid had, what I thought was dandruff all over his hair. The kids pointed out this uv glowing hair dust saying "what's this" and I quickly changed the subject thinking poor sod, let's draw the attention away from his dandruff! Now I'm wondering if it was nits! Right, I'm buying a uv light now.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 16/12/2019 19:02

The UV light shows up loads of teeny bits of fluff. If they are teeny weeny bits of clothes fluff they will glow under a UV light as they have washing powder brighteners on them.

LilQueenie · 16/12/2019 19:19

thanks for sharing. I've found nit hunting similar to pokemon. Always one that remains elusive and refuses to get in the bloody pokeball. Grin

Cathpot · 16/12/2019 20:03

You can get black lights on amazon for less that’s £10. I suspect dandruff fluoresces as well as it seems collagen does. I know this as I ended up following a query from a friend as to whether worms would show up as well. Then short discussion of how her kids were too old to have black light shone up their behinds.

Just got a parent app message about nits from DD school. Hmm could I justify a blacklight?

Selfsettling3 · 16/12/2019 20:10

Anyone else itchy now?

ISmellBabies · 17/12/2019 16:41

Exciting news, nit seekers! I amazon primed myself a cheap uv torch and I can confirm (drumroll)... it works! It lights up everything though, every bit of dandruff and tiny bits of fibre. But it definitely makew nit seeking easier.

Cathpot · 17/12/2019 17:11

That’s so pleasing! Eggs or adults or both?

OP posts:
ISmellBabies · 18/12/2019 09:02

Well I've only just de-nitted everyone so there weren't any actual adult headlice, there were a couple of eggs though -hopefully dead ones but easy enough to getvrid of when you can see them! Well worth the 7 quid or whatever it was for the torch!

Cathpot · 18/12/2019 16:55

Had a cursory go at DD and could see fluff etc but no nits- I need to sit her down and do it properly just to check as I can’t believe I’ve not missed a few eggs. She is currently roaming the house finding what glows!

Taddda · 18/12/2019 17:03

Just had a 'nit warning' letter from Dd1's nursery so this is great stuff- on to Amaxon now...thanks OP!
