We have been away a few times for Christmas and New Year to Jamaica, Germany, Sri Lanka and Austria. All lovely in their own ways, but my favourite was Austria.

Not this year but next, Mauritius. Beautiful island, last went in January 2018 and fell in love with it.

Scottish Highlands........Cottage, log burner, loch side walks, fantastic scenery, board games, books, Netflix etc.

We are renting a cottage for Christmas week, we have done this a couple of times before. Scotland never fails to deliver, we love visiting.

IggyAce · 16/12/2019 15:50

Not this year but last year we went to a gorgeous cottage in North Yorkshire, log burners, country walks and board games. It was bliss and would love to do it again in the future.

HoldMyLobster · 16/12/2019 15:54

@Pipandmum Boston MA.

I was in Boston the other evening. It had had about 2" of snow the previous night and was absolutely gorgeous all lit up. We are thinking of going back this weekend to do some shopping and enjoy the atmosphere.

Majorca this year. In the past few years we've done USA, Turkey/Jordan, Thailand & Cambodia with the kids.

Pre children we went away every year.

AlexaAmbidextra · 16/12/2019 16:17

theweebles. Wells this year. We did the Vic at Holkham last year and it was lovely. Very cosy and understated. We don’t like an in your face Christmas.

MinnieMountain · 16/12/2019 16:21

We're visiting family in southern Spain. DH and I are going to have our Boxing Day swim in the Med.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 16/12/2019 16:27

Skiing in Italy.

We had a Christmas in Cyprus while living there. It was rather chilly- not cold like UK, but you needed to heat your house, wear coats etc. You would need to go a lot further south than Europe for a hot Christmas.

MrsPear · 16/12/2019 16:30

Dorset - we hire a large house with my immediate family for Christmas week. This year we have a smaller car - previous one h ended up writing off but could have been far worst if it wasn’t suchlike a tank - and I’ve no idea how everything will fit in the boot Xmas Confused

theweebleshavelanded · 17/12/2019 07:42

oh its lovely round there! dare you to have a paddle in the sea!

hellswelshy · 17/12/2019 08:52

Mid Wales in a lodge which has a hot tub. It's very rural, with beautiful scenery. Looking forward to it, I like to do slightly different things every year but this is the first time I've been away with dh and dc!

BoogleMcGroogle · 17/12/2019 08:58

Not this year, but we once ended up in the Apuljarras mountains , in Andalusia. Cold at night but the walking was stunning and you could be paddling on the beach within the hour. Gorgeous.

Some friends are in Cape Town at he moment and it looks incredible!
