Went to Sainsburys around 2pm today, absolutely heaving! And Christmas music so load. I was so glad to get out it was giving me a headache and stressing me out it was like a sale was on.
Seems whenever you go shopping now regardless of time or day theres always Loads in the shop and queuing not just few items in baskets I’m talking trolleys full

I do the scanning thing. Much less stressful.

snowybaubles · 14/12/2019 15:00

It will be busy and there will be Christmas music; it's less than 2 weeks away!

GertrudeCB · 14/12/2019 15:02

What did you expect on the 14th December?

Blueshadow · 14/12/2019 15:02

Use Lidl - silent and quiet.

Elbeagle · 14/12/2019 15:04

It’s 11 days until Christmas... lots of people shopping plus Christmas music playing is to be expected, no?

Gardai · 14/12/2019 15:04

That’s funny OP I noticed this yesterday - bloody horrendous and really loud in my normally peaceful Sainsbury’s. I couldn’t wait to get out.

I had this in tescos last year couldnt hear myself think the checkout girl had a banging headache too so I rang customer services at the till put on my best "Karen" voice they could clearly hear the issue and they called the manager to turn it down he did immediately much to the relief of a lot of people but it really was so loud we couldnt actually have a conversation we needed to shout over it 🙇‍♀️

Dunno what else you expected 11 days before Xmas.

I'll tell you what I definitely didn't expect 11 days before Xmas and that's gruesome details of a child murder. Seriously, was that even remotely necessary? What a shit fucking thread this is.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 14/12/2019 16:14

@Katinski Thanks for that on a relatively lighthearted thread

harper30 · 14/12/2019 16:18

Our Sainsbury's this morning had a brass band doing Xmas songs! It was fantastic!

harper30 · 14/12/2019 16:19

If you hate crowds and noise probably go to the big supermarkets late at night? Can do a big shop when it's virtually empty post 9pm.

LucyLocketss · 14/12/2019 16:24

Brace yourself for just after Xmas then! They switch to 'party music' for the new year

Pavlova31 · 14/12/2019 16:29

I don't mind jolly christmas music and jolly people except if it is played at a volume where you can hardly hear yourself think Smile

Funnyface1 · 14/12/2019 16:31

Katinski there was no need for that.

I don't mind Christmas music really but don't want it at deafening levels. I also avoid everywhere on weekends at this time of year, it's madness.

Katinski · 14/12/2019 16:32

In B'ham city centre we have the Sally Ann doing their oomp-a oomp-a brass band stuff. It's wonderful!

Katinski · 14/12/2019 16:38

No apologies from me, m'dears. As stated, I love the razzmatazz, I love the queues,I specially love the hyper-active children, but if I could wish one song to be binned forever, it's that one. For obvious reasons.

Ohyesiam · 14/12/2019 17:20

I really feel for the people who work in shops , imagine the same old Christmas songs for hours on a loop day in day out from NovemberAngry. It would drive me insane.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 14/12/2019 17:32

@Katinski All right stop going on about it now. You’re just ruining that song for other people now

simonisnotme · 14/12/2019 17:56

could be worse
i went sainsburys this morning they had 4 mini power cuts which stuffed up all the tills for over 10 mins a time and it was packed

ReginaGeorgeous · 14/12/2019 18:02

We had Christmas music blaring in our Sainsbury's this afternoon, and my DH got "whammed" (Whamagedden game from Absolute Radio) Grin

HeartZone · 14/12/2019 18:05

Just get your food delivered 🤷‍♀️

Babdoc · 14/12/2019 18:11

I had this problem in Tesco last year. I’m autistic and have sensory overload issues with ear splitting music, bright lights and crowds. The staff I spoke to hated it as well. I complained to management via the Facebook page, and they apologised and turned it down.
When I went back a few days later to do the shopping I’d had to abandon, it was transformed - they were playing carols softly in the background, you could hear yourself speak at the checkout, everyone was so much more relaxed, and the atmosphere was lovely.

ballsdeep · 14/12/2019 18:13

Come on op, step into Christmas!!!
