Chicken chow mein or prawn curry?

GiveHerHellFromUs · 13/12/2019 17:23

DP's out tonight so I'm ordering Chinese as he hates it.

Should I have chicken chow mein or prawn curry for my main?

They also do a box of seaweed, prawn toast, spring rolls and satay chicken so I'm having that too Grin

Prawn curry if they use big king prawns.

Bluntness100 · 13/12/2019 17:29

Chicken chow mein every time.

Chicken chow mein. No debate.

Ok this is my dilemma: if I order prawn curry I have to have chips too (non-negotiable. I love dipping chips in Chinese curry) but with the starter too it might be too much and I can't really reheat prawns.

Whereas if I only eat half the chow mein I can have it reheated tomorrow.

I would go for the prawn curry 😋 I’ve reheated it before and it’s been fine - just make sure you cover it and refrigerate.

Skinandbones · 13/12/2019 17:38

You could eat the curry first and heat up the box of left overs if you don't eat them all. My dh and dd are out at their works do tonight so I too will be curling up with a Chinese and I recorded Bednobs and broomstick this afternoon. Haven't seen it for ages.

Chow mien for your reasons stated. Leftover Chinese is 🤤🤤 for brekky

unmumsymumof2 · 13/12/2019 17:39

Chow mein without a doubt

BloodyCats · 13/12/2019 17:40

I’m getting Chinese too but can’t decide! Getting a box of spring rolls, prawn toast and ribs but can’t decide my extra.
Life is so tough sometimes

QforCucumber · 13/12/2019 17:40

Special chow mein - ours has prawns in aswell as chicken, best of both:)

GiveHerHellFromUs · 13/12/2019 17:41

I've gone Chow Mein. I can't risk reheating prawns - I'm such a worrier!

@Skinandbones I wouldn't want cold/reheated prawn toast or spring rolls either! I'm being difficult aren't i?

Chicken chow mein, with crispy seaweed and prawn crackers.

ShirleyPhallus · 13/12/2019 17:42

Chow mein is a side dish so I’d get both tbh

Sagradafamiliar · 13/12/2019 17:42

I'd go for a prawn chow mein

GiveHerHellFromUs · 13/12/2019 17:43

@ShirleyPhallus I couldn't justify spending £25/30 on one meal for myself.

The Chinese I used to order from did a tub with chow mein, fried chicken wings, spare ribs and sweet and sour sauce. It was amazing. I think they've closed down now Sad

Bluntness100 · 13/12/2019 17:55

Actually Shirley has a point, plain chow mein, chips and prawn curry. The plain one is usually about the same price or so as rice...😄

ShirleyPhallus · 13/12/2019 19:08

That is REALLY expensive for Chinese food OP, are you ordering direct or through something like JustEat?

Strictly1972 · 13/12/2019 19:12

I would go chow mein with a pot of curry sauce. Yummy.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 13/12/2019 19:14

@ShirleyPhallus Just Eat but prices are pretty much the same give or take a pound or two.

All the Chineses round here seem to be really expensive.
Never have the same problem with Indian/pizza etc though.

tomorrow
