Sky TV question, on behalf of DH!

Very boring I know but hoping someone might know the answer. We (mostly DH!) usually watch the PDC darts championship over Christmas. Last year we were Virgin Media customers but had access to Sky Sports Darts channel and were able to watch the whole tournament. Virgin was in DH's name and he's fairly sure we didn't have a specific sports package. This year we're Sky customers, but don't have a Sky Sports subscription. Does anyone know if we'll be able to watch any of it? It seems not, but surely it's not correct that Virgin Media customers have more access (without additional subscriptions) to some Sky channels than Sky customers? Are we missing something? We're prepared to be told we're being really stupid Grin

(I'm also aware that we may have had a sports package with Virgin after all and DH has just forgotten. He's had a hell of a year, I'm sure remembering the old tv package details haven't been a priority!)

You won't be able to watch it without having Sky sports. You could watch it on Sky Go if you could get hold of someone else's log in details. My parents pay for Sports and my DH watches the occasional thing on his phone and then casts it to the TV.

You can get a sky sports pass with now tv. No subscription and you can cancel when you want.

Shesalittlemadam · 13/12/2019 12:46

Get a streaming stick

Shesalittlemadam · 13/12/2019 12:47

I think you can get Sky Sports on Roku. I know you can on Now TV so get a Now TV Box (fairly cheap) and a Sky Sports month pass - Some NOW TV boxes come with a pass

BearSoFair · 13/12/2019 13:15

Now TV is a good shout, it's something we'd talked about previously already so I'll suggest that this evening when he's home. Thanks all!

If you've got a smart tv, you don't need a now box. Use the app.

mama3 · 13/12/2019 13:39

You need the Action and Arena package. Order it today and cancel it tomorrow. You need to give 31 days notice, so you'll have it a month. Costs £18

I believe Virgin often have special events where all customers get access to sporting events (channel 100 IIRC). With Sky you'd need the Sports package, or alternatively grab a monthly Now TV pass if only using for a short time. You'd need a device that supports Now TV app though.

I got an email this morning saying sky sports free over Christmas and I'm sure it said darts too.

blacklily3 · 13/12/2019 15:01

Hi, I thought there was an offer for sky customers to ha e a month free sky sports? I got an email about it the other day. Log into your mysky and you should be able to look at VIP offers (I think that's what it's called)

BigFatLiar · 13/12/2019 15:04

Starts this evening on sky sports mix which may be in the basic bundle (channel 146?) Worth checking before you spend on anything else

BigFatLiar · 13/12/2019 15:09

145

BearSoFair · 13/12/2019 15:57

Out at the moment but I'll definitely have a look for Sky Sports Mix and check in case we've skimmed past an email, thank you BigFatLiar and blacklily3

Oh i love the darts over Christmas!

If you can't get it on the Sky package you have now definitely invest in a NOW TV stick or box and just get a Sports Pass for the month.

iloveredwine · 13/12/2019 16:31

i got an email from sky too about the free sports package at christmas. said about the darts.
