All I know is that she’s 14, a girl and of average size. Budget £30.

If that's all you know I'd be tempted to get a collection of small things in the hope that some will hit the mark. Wrap them separately then box them and wrap the box nicely.
Suggestions based on things my DDs like:

  • fleecy blanket
  • lindor chocolates
  • body sprays
  • nail polish or lip gloss
  • gel pens
  • lush bath bomb
  • notebook
  • amazon voucher
  • screen touch gloves

What's the circumstances where you're buying an unknown 14yo a present?

It might change the suggestions

@TeenPlusTwenties great list!

@00100001 My aunt works with a lot families that struggle financially so every year our family and friends get gifts that she passes on. I think she’s up to about 200 children this year so doesn’t know all of them that well.

Not all 14yr old girls want make up and beauty products. Maybe balance it with some other bits just Incase

Molly357 · 13/12/2019 13:41

Tesco do a good teen gift card that can be used in lots of places

halcyondays · 13/12/2019 13:42

Body sprays
Lip balm
Shower gel
Sweets/choc
Fluffy blanket
Stationery
Hair scrunchies

Molly357 · 13/12/2019 13:43

It’s called Teen Choice and will allow her to shopping with friends if that’s something that’s normally difficult to do.

Molly357 · 13/12/2019 13:44

My 14 yr old would not want body sprays, lip balm or nail polish. Just to offer the other side .Smile

Muchtoomuchtodo · 13/12/2019 13:46

I had just the same brief for a charity Christmas project.

I bought a lovely fluffy fleece blanket
Biggest selection box that I could find
Lip balms
Amazon voucher

TeenPlusTwenties · 13/12/2019 14:11

molly What would they want? That was why I suggested a selection of smaller items, in the hope some of them would be liked.

The risk to me with a voucher is it might well get taken/borrowed by the adult in the household to use for other stuff. Whereas the gifts are for the teen. Plus it shows someone has taken the time to choose and wrap rather than just give a voucher.

Hmm. Maybe something like

Battery pack for phone
Insulated mug/water bottle
Headphones
Nice pyjamas/slippers/blanket
Hoodie

Molly357 · 13/12/2019 14:22

Good point. I think the blanket , hot chocolate bombs etc, some cism, different stationery, something fun for room that doesn’t need an adult to help,

Molly357 · 13/12/2019 14:22

*some cosmetics is fine

AliMonkey · 13/12/2019 14:28

What my 14YO DD would like:
fleecy blanket
anything rose gold, eg water bottle, hairbrush
PJs, fluffy slipper boots, fluffy or other socks
jewellery
chocolate, white hot chocolate
screen touch gloves, scarf, bobble hat
books, CDs (but too hard to buy for unknown girl)
toiletries like shower gel, bath bombs (but not make-up)

If I was buying for an unknown girl in those circumstances, I'd probably go for some combination of fleecy blanket, gloves, chocolate, shower gel and a rose gold water bottle.

implantsandaDyson · 13/12/2019 14:47

Mini backpack (Primark)
Sweatshirt/hoodie (just get a generic one from Primark)
Woolly hat
Socks
Chocolate - giant Galaxy bar
Pens (not colouring ones)
Fleecy blanket
Earphone splitter
Make up pouch/bag that can be used as a pencil case if they prefer

Paperchase stuff always goes down well- stationery, knick knacks, pens etc.
Would be useful for school but also they do water bottles etc

poorbuthappy · 13/12/2019 15:09

Stationery pens etc
