Gutted I’ve lost my engagement ring and wedding ring

I’m so upset! I’ve lost my engagement and wedding ring totalling up to £10,000. Its insured on home insurance valued at £14,500. The rings were bought 2.5 years ago. I still have kept the certificate and receipt. Last time I remember was wearing it at Bluewater shopping centre on Sunday, I never take it off in public. Now I’ve been at home and only just realised yesterday it’s not on my hand anymore. I take it off only at home; showering, in kitchen doing dishes, changing my baby, drying my hair or going to sleep. I can’t believe I can’t find it. I’ve searched everywhere, moving furniture and emptying everything as if I were moving house. The ring is insured separately at £14,500 with £500 excess. Insurance covers; loss, theft, damage and abroad. How can I be so stupid to lose my ring at home? I’m certain of it but I can’t find it anywhere. I’m worried if I tell my insurance they will reject my story as last time I remember wearing my rings was when I was out shopping, but I never take it off unless home. Would they reject that?

Check all your sinks, anywhere like a bedside table where you might have put on hand cream, in gloves... it's unlikely they both just dropped off in public without you noticing.

Have you carried bags of shopping, for example?

Hope you find them but if you don’t and are worried about your story for insurance then just change it to something more believable, they won’t know.

Have you emptied out your bag? I’ve lost some jewellery in there before.

So have you actually lost your rings or are you trying out plausible stories on us before you try your luck claiming the value back?

MyKingdomForBrie · 13/12/2019 22:27

That's a lot of times you take them on and off, I never take mine off unless to moisturise my hands! I think you need to get a couple of friends or family in to help you search the house absolutely top to bottom.

crimsonlake · 13/12/2019 22:29

Make sure they are really lost before you ring insurance company, once you tell them it is treated as a claim even if you take it no further.

I would realise in seconds that I had lost my engagement ring, and it would be impossible to lose my wedding ring.

Check the washer, dishwasher and tumble drier (the filter too)

RoomR0613 · 13/12/2019 22:35

Are you sure you weren't at the Trafford Centre rather than Bluewater Grin ?

You must wear it less hours than you have it on! Do you put it in the same place normally when you take it off to change a nappy or go to sleep?

@Khtchkn...I am so sorry you are going through this angst...especially because
it's your wedding rings...
Here are a few unbelievable, but 100% true places that my mother, friend, and I have found "lost" rings!
My DS 2 yrs saw my rings on the table and thought it would be a wonderful idea to put them inside the bell of a trumpet that he enjoyed trying to play.I suppose he liked the tinkling sound as they dropped in. After play, I returned the trumpet to the case and later realised that my rings were missing...after turning the entire house upside down, I started thinking about his activities for the day, went to the trumpet case, opened it, picked up the trumpet, and voila... out popped my rings..

Friend's story... her rings went missing. After scouring the entire house, she thought about the places HER DS had been playing, and found then in a teacup in the closed lower cabinet where she kept her holiday china.
DMs story... she could not locate her rings... absolutely MUST have been stolen since she'd left a door open to air the house....she filed a claim, received replacement money....months later as she was washing the upstairs windows she noticed a flicker of brightness. ...looked over and ta da! It was her rings that she'd put on a nail that was between the two top windows...she'd probably put them there the last time she'd washed the windows.
Soooooo, your rings are probably somewhere around your house where you don't usually put them....ask St. Anthony to help you find them...google it if you're not familiar....works every time for me! Good luckFlowers
Pls excuse any typos or errors Smile
