Could parties have an indication of how voting is going this early?

I've just had a Labour volunteer, knock on my door.
I told him I've already voted.
He asked whether I had voted Labour.
I said I had.
Then he goes 'What do you think about the result?'
I said 'what result?'
He goes 'fingers crossed', then buggered off!

Strange?

He was asking whether you thought they'd win, surely?

I've been asked the same thing by almost everyone today - my neighbour, the barister, the polling people, everyone.

I'd have thought it unlikely. Lots of people won't have voted yet, possibly making a judgement on what people say when they leave?
