Sad Parked near a curb. Pulled off and scraped front wheel alloy. Only had the car a week.

You can get it fixed, it’s not as expensive as you think

Google alloy repair

((Hug)) I know how crap it is... I scraped 2 of my oh in the snow last year...

Winkywoop · 12/12/2019 12:46

That was a bit silly of you!

Borkins · 12/12/2019 12:48

Well I know it was silly! Thanks for the reminder Confused

Honestly, don't stress about it. I know it's gut wrenching the first time you hear that noise but really, how often do you inspect your wheels? It's just a little scrape, at least it wasn't the bumper.

notnowmaybelater · 12/12/2019 12:53

I'm of the opinion that if it's my car, a part that won't rust and nobody else's property was damaged then it's not so terrible... Alloys will corrode I guess so worth doing the repair but not the end of the word not to if you have a cash flow problem...

Don't beat yourself up, you didn't damage anyone else's car and it's not terrible damage requiring an immediate outlay of cash or leaving you without transport.

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/12/2019 12:53

I did that with mine too, only had the car a month.

Borkins · 12/12/2019 12:55

I'll get it repaired in the New Year. Too many presents to buy!
Just hate damage to new stuff. I didn't have much growing up!

You've reminded me I need to get mine fixed. I was almost sick when i heard the noise :(

TopOftheNaughtyList · 12/12/2019 13:01

My own opinion is that it's a wheel and it's scuffed, not the end of the world, but my DH is OCD about cars being clean and perfect and if I do accidentally scrape my own wheels I'm in a complete panic worrying about how he's going to react. He'll start being angry and then will pester, pester, pester, until I get it fixed (cars are in his name). I tend to park further from the kerb than I should to avoid any accidental damage.

Fightthebear · 12/12/2019 13:04

I tend to take the view I’ll kerb my alloys again soon so just leave it Crown Blush

FourForYouGlenCoco · 12/12/2019 13:05

It happens! The first day I drove our last car I accidentally put a big dent in the back 🙈 DH was unimpressed but shit happens - we laugh about it now! It’s not the end of the world, it’s just stuff Flowers

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/12/2019 13:07

Me too Fight!

twoturtledove · 12/12/2019 13:17

It's around £30 - £50 to repair a scratched alloy depending on if they're diamond cut or not. Don't stress, happens to the best of us!

Somanysocks · 12/12/2019 13:55

Never had alloys on any of my cars, just those plastic ones that push on so they don't matter so much. Does that mean my cars are always low end? I'm always scraping them as i like to park as close as i can get to the kerb.

Alloys would worry me too much.Smile

StayClassySally · 12/12/2019 14:08

It's heartbreaking isn't it. I did this and I sliced three cuts into the alloy so will cost three times as much. I will be leaving it until I give the car back as it relaxes me that a mark is already there and I will only do it again!

WineThanks

amusedbush · 12/12/2019 14:10

Two weeks after I got my car I hit a bollard Blush I didn't even see the bloody thing, just swung into a parking space and heard a crunch Sad

bluebump · 12/12/2019 14:13

I did that on mine when I first got it, of course I didn’t take out the alloy insurance either. I’ve scraped 3 out of the 4 now so I may as well scrape the last one before I get them all repaired!
