Help me get motivated to sort my house out

I've just moved. Bedrooms are sorted, but still tons of stuff to sort through. Every time I open a box to start sorting through, my nearly 2 year old is there, "helping", pulling stuff out, making a mess.

Having internet installed, blinds and composter delivered, and someone to fix the hot water today, which means I can't really go out as an avoidance tactic. So might as well crack on

Feeling spectacularly unmotivated today. Please give me a kick up the arse. We're having family over for Christmas and I'd like the house looking reasonably nice by then!

Get on with it, and get "in the zone".

It certainly won't sort itself out!

@c3pu I think my problem is that I can't get "in the zone" as I'm constantly fending my toddler off. He just creates utter mayhem.

Not to mention the boxes I'm currently at are ones that were packed by my partner, so it's entirely pot luck as to what's in them. I swear he just went round the rooms and threw stuff in at random 🤦🏻‍♀️

Get some music pumping.

Break the job down. Get a few items out and locate them at a time for the random boxes. At least if you're interrupted you don't return to too much chaos.
A 2yo is definitely not condusive to productivity!

Would your toddler watch TV for a while?

Sometimes I put a timer on my phone and see how much cleaning I can get done in 20 minutes.

Sososick · 12/12/2019 12:04

@ShinyGiratina music is a good idea. I usually stream through my phone, but out of data until next week so didn't think about that. I do have some cds that I can put on though. And no, toddlers definitely make things take much longer lol.

@SuperSleepyBaby not really re TV. If I'm doing something he wants to be involved. I tried to do the same with cleaning but he just wasn't interested, so I just give him a cloth and a "spray bottle" so he can clean with me 😂. Also, we don't bother with TV licence as only have netflix, so until the Internet is up and running don't have that anyway 🙈
