I overruled a colleague today and I'm all unsettled by it

There was a choir singing in the foyer of the hospital I work in today and we were trying to get some of our patients to go along and watch. Colleague felt a particular patient was able to go but I didn't agree. She was being so kind and caring but I felt there was still a high risk.

Matron agreed with me and I know within myself that I made the right decision but colleague was evidently really annoyed with me. I hate things like this Xmas Sad

Sounds like you did your job OP, looking after a vulnerable patient.

Your purpose was your patients best interests, not to piss off a colleague.

Try now to move on from it and don't be drawn into any discussion about it.

Hopefully your colleague is a professional and tomorrow is another day.

Aww dont feel that way! You would have allowed the patient to go see the choir if you felt he or she was well enough to, you only just did your job..and you have a duty of care towards the patient. You wont always agree with your colleagues x and dont worry, she will get over it lol
