Anyone know any cheap pound shops in Central London?

I need those pillar candles plus cheap wool and I don't have the car to drive to retail parks but I'm going into town later.

I can't think of any and the map shows no Poundland - but there may be pound or cheap stores I've not thought of?

Depends how central you mean - there's a poundland in Elephant and Castle shopping centre which is the only one I can think of in zone one. If you're in the north, there's several on the Holloway Road?

Lots in Stratford. Just make sure you go to the Stratford Centre rather than Westfield.

Zone 3 I know but very accessible by tube/train/bus and the Stratford Centre is right next to the station.

SquirmOfEels · 09/12/2019 09:26

Which side of town are you?

Many shopping areas in zone 2 will have something, and probably all of them in zone 3.

Wouid a Wilko do? They have a few more central branches in Fulham, Kensington and Hammersmith

Agree with previous poster - I don't know of any pound shops in Central London, but plenty in Zone 2 onwards.

To the east you have Stratford, to the south is Brixton and elephant and castle and to the west Hammersmith (not sure where the nearest is to the north).

Wood Green

Is there one in Hammersmith? I think so but not 100% sure

EmpressJewel · 09/12/2019 09:41

I think there are two, in Hammersmith - one on the main road and the other in the shopping centre.

LaurieFairyCake · 09/12/2019 09:45

Yep, I meant really central - Covent Garden/Piccadilly area. I live in zone 3.

I think that stopping at Lewisham on my way back is my best bet.

Thanks all for confirming there isn't one in the very centre Grin - I did think the rents might be too high for there to be one

How about Flying Tiger? They have candles and are very cheap.

Xiaoxiong · 09/12/2019 10:06

Isn't there an Ikea home store on Tottenham Court Road now? I think they might have candles, not the cheap wool though.

jay55 · 09/12/2019 10:50

Charring cross road, sorry autocorrect.

Embracelife · 09/12/2019 10:55

Hema is cheap too for some things

raeray · 09/12/2019 11:01

Camden high street quite central and there's pound shops there

Glitterbaby17 · 09/12/2019 11:02

There’s one in Archway

Can't think of a pound shop in Covent Garden area / Leicester Sq though as PPs have said there is a TK Maxx but it can be a bit hit and miss.

However, if you can manage to get on the Northern line to Camden (go from Leicester Square) there is a Poundland on Camden High Street.
