I'm thinking of just close family for snacks & cake? Did anyone actually have a party or do anything special?

Close family is ideal. I never had anything big but the photos are lovely!

We (and most people I know) just did an open house thing where people can pop in and put a bit of a buffet on. Cake and sing towards the end. Baby won't remember but it's nice for people to pop in and see them and people can stop as long or short a time as they want.

I just did a little tea party type thing - put buffet food out and cake. It was really nice to do, Baby won’t remember but it’s a nice memory for you of their 1st birthday. Did the same for his 2nd too.
He turns 3 next week and it’s his first ‘proper’ birthday party with some friends from nursery and cousins at a soft play place called Jump, he’s really looking forward to it!
