Morning!

Guess I need baking soda and white vinegar TODAY!

What shop can I get them both from please? SORRY I'm a crap adult and never had to deal with this before 🙄

I'd rather go to a DIY store ? Don't have a B&M, home bargain etc nearby ....

Wilkinsons own brand plug hole stuff.
It's only £1 (or close) and has a pokey stick, get two or three.
Gotta ladle the water though, bucket down the bog.
Happy Saturday Grin

Any supermarket will have those. Try hoiking out the gunk from the plug hole first.

FredaFrogspawn · 07/12/2019 07:48

I have a pokey bendy stick thing with a fuzzy, hair clog catching Velcro-type thingy on the end. It unblocks drains easily from plugs. I think it’s called a drain snake or something like that. I got mine online but I’m sure hardware shops will have similar.

Good luck!

FredaFrogspawn · 07/12/2019 07:50

And one of those old fashioned suction cups on a stick - a plunger - can help too. Place over the drain, get a vacuum between the cup and the drain within the water, and pump as vigorously as possible.

Two threads? Really?

FredaFrogspawn · 07/12/2019 08:04

Two threads won’t hurt you, Nextphone

Blocked drains can be very anxiety-provoking.

PotteringAlong · 07/12/2019 08:08

Have you got a wire coat hanger you can unbend and use to furkle down the plug hole first to try and de-gunk it?

And supermarket will have stuff to clean the plug hole; you don’t need a DIY place.

OldSpeclkledHen · 07/12/2019 08:10

Jesus @Nextphonewontbesamsung chat for traffic but really this is HouseKeeping .... didn't think I'd get much response this early in the morning in that topic ... but words fail me you rude person.

@FredaFrogspawn Thank You!

Thanks everyone else, I'll hit Wilkos later then!

You need to remove blockage, drain unblocker won’t work through standing water, plunging will be you best bet, unsure you get good suction over the plug hole, also use something to stop the air escaping from the overflow. Buildup a lot of pressure, you will probably have a lot of black gunk released, once you have cleared the blockage, then use the drain blockage chemicals to clean out any further gunk in the pipes, works everytime OP.

Boopear · 07/12/2019 08:17

Screwfix sell a great drain unclogger thing - it’s a wire rod on a spool which you put into the whole then twist to unclog. Works a treat.

FredaFrogspawn · 07/12/2019 08:27

Is furkle a real word? If not, it should be!

helacells · 07/12/2019 08:28

Forget all that, just boil the kettle and pour the water down
The drain, it'll clear in minutes

TheQueef · 07/12/2019 08:34

A kettle of boiling water won't be boiling when it's added to a bath of cold water.
Once the bath is empty three or four kettles of boiling water will help clear soap scrum though.

UrsulaPandress · 07/12/2019 08:36

Of course furkle is a word. Well it is to me.

FredaFrogspawn · 07/12/2019 08:55

Bloody good word.

Sparklybaublefest · 07/12/2019 08:57

but you could scoop as much cold water out as you can

Sparklybaublefest · 07/12/2019 08:58

baking powder and vinegar otherwise

Starisnotanumber · 07/12/2019 09:17

They sell the twisting drain snake thing plus the heavy duty chemicals at poundland if there's one of those near you

JenniferM1989 · 07/12/2019 09:18

You get these long brush stick things that pull all the hair and gunk out. I got mine from amazon but you should be able to get one in most places

Sparklybaublefest · 07/12/2019 09:19

and a plunger
