I am SO annoyed and upset with myself!

Have had a couple of hectic days - working away so stayed in a hotel for a couple of nights, checked out this morning and had to travel 150 miles for an interview (it was on the way home) so was a bit worn out by the time I got home.

Unpacking and realised I've left my kindle there Sad. I'm so upset, silly I know but it's my most used and loved possession. Thinking back, I know exactly where it was, I was reading before I got up and left it on the bed....I definitely got out of bed, throwing the covers back on top of it Hmm what an idiot.

Have called the hotel and they've left a message for housekeeping but there was no message from them to say it had been found.

Ugh, there's no point to this post, just sounding off. Of course if it's gone forever it's Christmas so I have no money to replace right now.

Give it a day or two then ring back.

Thanks puds - so frustrating. And I feel just a tad ridiculous, I read a lot and can still read a lot with actual books or the app on my phone - but I like my kindle!

I've got my fingers crossed they'll call tomorrow.

I know your pain I managed to smash the screen on my kindle when it was a week out of warranty 🤦‍♀️ luckily though I had an old one that still works although is a bit temperamental. I really hope it turns up for you!

That’s so annoying but they might find it and keep it safe for you!!! I hope that they do!!! Crossing my fingers for you! It’s so easily done!!!

I’m sure they have found it. If they don’t, it should be standard hotel practice to check who had key access to clean the room and then the police would be called, so it wouldn’t be worth anyone stealing it.

My kindle went awol from a hotel bed I left it in too. I feel your pain!

It's highly unlikely anyone will steal it. The only danger will be if it's whacked in the laundry before anyone realises it is there.

Not sure exactly how they work, I have a Kobo. However, I'm logged into my account on it so if yours works the same you might want to log into your account on a laptop and change passwords etc or you might end up with charges.

I’ve already been in touch with Amazon @Chesntoots - they’ve marked it lost. Oddly though, it wasn’t appearing on my devices list. Only my ancient kindle keyboard which I got in 2008 or 2009!

Thanks for your well wishes all - I feel so pathetic about it! Guess I’ll just have to read a paperback.

I've done exactly that, in a hotel in another country! The hotel found it and a lovely colleague from my company's office in that town went and collected it and posted it to me. You aren't the first and won't be the last to do it.

If you were there for work and your company uses the hotel a lot, might be worth mentioning where you work as they might try looking a bit harder in that case than for a random tourist they think they'll never see again.

Hope it turns up for you. I’ve got a tiny crack in my screen and I’m debating on weather to get another one before I do something stupid with it.

Do you have the option to pay in instalments on your Amazon account? I know not everyone has it yet, but that might be an option for you to replace it?

I don't think so @Maxineputyourredshoeson but if it doesn't turn up at least the newer versions are much cheaper.

It's a Voyage though which they don't make anymore, I like the buttons. I had a Nook before which I could just get again.

That's a good point actually @SummerInSun - I was one of about 20 they had at the hotel as well, lots of us up there for Xmas dinners and stuff - sadly I was there for boring work things!

I have a kindle that my partner bought for me last year and despite my best efforts I don't like it 😬 I like proper books!

If you pm me your address I would love to send it to you as you loved yours so much.. hopefully if I spread some Christmas joy I will manage to get in the Christmas spirit 😊
