I am 38 and me and my partner are trying for a baby be ideally I wouldn't have left it this late but some things are taking out of our hands! I keep thinking I'm too old I know I have met a lot of mothers that have had children at 30 or 40 or 41 even? Cheers just might make me feel a bit better!

I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and I'm 38. Both kids perfect and healthy.

MayFayner · 18/12/2019 22:31

I had DC2 at 38 and DC3 at 39.

A friend just had her second baby at 43.

In general I have loads of acquaintances (school mums etc) who have had babies around the 40 mark.

Good luck!

I'm 39 and due my second child (first is 3) on the 30th December. So it does happen for people!

alphasox · 18/12/2019 22:34

Had my youngest (ds2) just before my 40th birthday. Go for it! Don’t see any reason why not?

justasking111 · 18/12/2019 22:35

Third at 44, it was the easiest pregnancy I felt great all the way through. A bit of morning sickness but that abated at three months.

ParkheadParadise · 18/12/2019 22:37

I had my first at 15
I had my second at 38
Didn't find out I was pregnant until i was 5mths with dd2 a total shock and surprise.
Good luck

Harriedharriet · 18/12/2019 22:38

Me. 3 after 39th birthday. All healthy. No treatments. Good luck.

Titsywoo · 18/12/2019 22:38

Yes I know lots of people who had their kids at 40 or older. My SIL had one at 40 and the second at 43 (although did have a miscarriage in between). Another friend just had her first at 40. When I did the school run when mine were at primary there were lots of mums turning 50 so had their kids at 39+.

chester18 · 18/12/2019 22:38

I had one at 39 and another at 41.

Sparrowlegs248 · 18/12/2019 22:39

I have a 4yr old and 2 yr old and am 42. And now single Hmm I'm quite tired.
Pregnancy was fine, had a bit of high blood pressure.

bellinisurge · 18/12/2019 22:40

Got pregnant after 5 weeks of trying aged 40.
I spent the year up to that point eating super healthy and cutting out alcohol.
The crap food and booze came after Grin
Good luck.

SpeckledyHen · 18/12/2019 22:40

DC1 at 39&5 months . DC2 at 41 & 10 months.

FriedasCarLoad · 18/12/2019 22:43

I had been told, in my late twenties, that I would struggle to conceive and mustn't delay trying.

Aged 38, I conceived the first time I tried Smile

I had twins at 38. Very easy pregnancy and labour. One twin fine, one very ill but fine now. All a very happy family. In our school year group about 5 out of 30 mums were around 40 when they had their first child and no one ever teased the DC or raised an eyebrow. It was very normal. My next door neighbour had her first child at 42. Again, all fine, no problems, very happy family. Most of the older mums I know are very calm and really enjoy motherhood, probably because we waited so long for it, we knew we wanted it and have enjoyed the experience.

rumandbiscuits · 18/12/2019 22:45

My step mum got pregnant within months at the age of 40 with my brother and then accidentally got pregnant with my sister at 41 (didn't use protection one time)! Good luck OP.

ClinkyMonkey · 18/12/2019 22:51

I had my two at 41 and 45. Both straightforward pregnancies and births. It took about a year to get pregnant with my first (started trying at 39) and just over a year with second (had an ectopic pregnancy in between as well sadly).

I'm now 52 with an 11yo and a 7yo. Knackered, but happy (most of the timeGrin)

Bobbi73 · 18/12/2019 22:52

I had one at 37 and one at 41. Both easy pregnancies, both healthy kids. It's tiring but I don't regret it. My friend just had her second at 45. Good luck.

ittooshallpass · 18/12/2019 23:25

Women in my family had babies at 42, 43 and 45...

raven999 · 06/01/2020 12:59

hi there,

I was told I would never have a child as there were medical reasons. After all sorts of heartbreak and treatments, found out, what I thought was flu turned out to be my now 22 year old healthy beautiful. son.
This happened with no treatment and infrequent sex. So don't give up.
Wishing you all the best. raven999

zanuda · 05/02/2020 15:14

I had my 1st one when I was 38 (depending how you count, he was born on my birthday Grin ) and 2d - when I was 40. It was quite a time ago, so I could tell they turned up absolutely OK. The only problem I had, I don't have enough energy for them, not that much I had in my 20th... So, running, jumping, climbing on the slides... well they always wanted 48h a day and I could only provide 20...

Bobbi73 · 17/02/2020 00:47

I had mine at 37 and 41. Both easy pregnancies. I make sure that I am fit and healthy so I can chase them around, ride bikes etc. I have quite a lot of energy but I have to work a little bit harder to be 'fun' mum.
No regrets though. Go for it 😀

blondemerida · 17/02/2020 01:20

DC1 at 37, DC2 at 39, DC3 at 41. Ended up with c sections but pretty sure not age related. Conceived within 0-4 months each time.
