I’m losing weight but the spare tyre of doom is still there. I

Following for ideas as I was going to post something very similar.

bevelino · 03/12/2019 22:14

Lots and lots of exercise worked for me. Also watching my diet.

charm8ed · 03/12/2019 22:16

I did a week of Jason Vale’s juicing and blitzed my tum as well as losing half a stone.
It was extreme but brilliant for ditching bad eating habits and I haven’t had any caffeine or decaf drinks in 9 months.

How MUCH exercise,
How Little food
Are we talking?!

egontoste · 03/12/2019 22:19

Watching with interest whilst eating a bag of maltesers

VinoEsmeralda · 03/12/2019 22:21

I do low carb, high fat and fast for 16hrs a day most days. My tummy is flat however tonight i had wraps and the belly is back.

Run 3 times a week and am generally active

Cuddling57 · 03/12/2019 22:26

I've always wanted a flat tummy .... for 43 years 😫! One day I'll get there!

FergusSingsTheBlues · 03/12/2019 23:18

@charm8ed

How hard was it?
How much did you drink per day?
I am a total binge eater and desperate to break the habit

dottydaily · 03/12/2019 23:24

Low carb diet, less than 800 calories daily, excercise daily (whatever you enjoy)and 100 squats daily( I do squats waiting for kettle to boil,,don’t have to do 100 in a row)...NO sugar and loads of water..

AndromedaPerseus · 03/12/2019 23:53

I eat 1700-2000 calories a day no special food just try to make sure it’s balanced at least one treat a day. Cycle everywhere and one hour of active exercise daily: HIIT, power swimming, circuits took me 6 months to get rid of tummy fat

Baitbox · 04/12/2019 01:15

Embrace the fatty tum. Yee Gods I’ve been dieting for about thirty years and finally now gave up. Do a lot of walking so I’m about 157lbs which is about 10 over what I was. Lost 18 “lbs and it was hard.

I wish I was as fat as I was when I actually thought I was fat.

Topazance · 04/12/2019 01:19

What I want to know is what exercise is good to keep the tummy firm whilst you're losing the weight so you don't have all flabby hanging bits?! If you get my drift?! Well you don't want to my drift really do ya?! GrinIt's the drift I wanna get rid of!

Baitbox · 04/12/2019 01:21

@Topazance that wobble when you walk haha.

MadgeMidgerson · 04/12/2019 01:51

Is less than 800 calories daily a sustainable way of living? it seems a bit low

MinnieMountain · 04/12/2019 07:06

Pilates holds it all in.

ZenNudist · 04/12/2019 07:09

Lol 800 calories. Yep starvation great ideaHmm

Barsh · 04/12/2019 07:20

Well I won’t be doing 800 calories. I’m watching what I eat, less wine, more veg, more fish. I was overwining and unnecessarily crisping.

Still wining and crisping mindfully when called for. Obvs.

I wish I was as fat as I was when I actually thought I was fat.

This 1000x. Those were the days.

There was an article in the Times about walking yesterday which I found quite encouraging. It pretty much concluded that any amount of walking helps, not just the hallowed 10,000 steps per day. It wasn't specifically talking about the spare tyre of doom though...

AgnesNaismith · 04/12/2019 07:30

wining and crisping mindfully

Should be the name of a book Xmas Grin

lolaflores · 04/12/2019 07:33

I found photos of me in my 30s....what the fuck was I telling myself? I looked incredible. The pressure I put myself under was horrific and still do.
I am reminding myself that what I see is ot necessarily an unbiased view.
Walk. Every day for at least 40 mins and cut down the carbs and the wine.
I am not training for a triathlon but I also dont want to become pre diabetic which is a worry for me given where I carry weight round the middle.

madcatladyforever · 04/12/2019 07:39

Yes gastric band. There is no way I'd have lost weight without it, I was just getting fatter every year. And sit ups which I hate but the tummy is getting flatter and the weight is coming off.

Barsh · 04/12/2019 07:41

Yeah the health thing is what’s mostly worrying me. I can cope in Pilates having to move the tyre to one side to fold forward etc.

But I’m worried that being 2 stone overweight and most of that being my tummy can’t be a good health indicator.

Look fine when I’m standing up straight, sit down and I get a lava flow...

giggleshizz · 04/12/2019 07:41

Following. 46 and Peri and weight keeps creeping up plus the belly fat has taken on a life of it's own. I have already eaten my way through two tubs if Christmas chocolates so my sugar cravings are off the scale

Tried cutting sugar last month and it actually worked but then Christmas happened and tubs of heroes.

Totally agree with the comments on wishing you'd appropriated being slim when you thought you were fat. I look at pictures of my youth and wish i hadn't beaten myself up about being overweight when I clearly wasn't.

RickOShay · 04/12/2019 07:48

Grin @Barsh
You are right. It’d getting the balance right. I’m 51 and recently lost a bit of weight due to a virus, not willpower, but I don’t want to waste thus opportunity.

So low carb etc etc
Then mindful munching when needed.
